You. Have. Rights.    And Resources.

Yes, Texas is a Right-to-Work state. But even with that fact, we as educators still have rights of due process. Knowing those rights and when they apply is an important part of maintaining your job security and respect as an educator.

01

Your Contract Rights

KISD uses Probationary and Term Contracts. It's important to know the guidelines that school districts are required to operate under to avoid unlawful actions. Definitions of those types of contracts can be found here.

02

KISD Board Policy

Though the majority of Texas school districts follow the basic policies set up by the Texas Association of School Boards, there are differences from local to local. Make sure you are up-to-date on the board policy here in Killeen by clicking here.

TSTA Attorney Referral Program

TSTA has identified attorneys in most areas of the state who have agreed to handle certain personal legal matters at a reduced rate. Normally, most attorneys charge a consultation fee even if the lawyer does not ultimately take your case. In the TSTA Attorney Referral Program, though, members may receive two, free 30-minute consultation sessions with a TSTA referral attorney during any membership year (from Sept. 1 - Aug. 31). During the two free sessions, you may discuss any legal matter in the area(s) in which the attorney has agreed to provide advice. For more information, click here.
